Search
The widget turns your inputs into up to five search queries: the full title, plus each comma-separated keyword. It runs them against Polymarket’s public market data and keeps only markets that are active and not closed. Search results are cached for about a minute, and market prices for about 30 seconds, so odds stay current without slowing your page.Scoring
Every candidate market gets a score from 0 to 1:
Relevance (title and keywords) makes up 70% of the score, so a popular but unrelated market can’t outrank a direct match.
Two adjustments follow:
- Markets whose odds are effectively decided (Yes at 3% or less, or 97% or more) are scored lower, because they make a poor embed.
- Markets that aren’t accepting orders are scored lower.
The collapse threshold
If the top market scores below 0.2, or the search finds nothing, the widget sends apolyembed:hide message and your page hides the frame. Articles without a relevant market, such as recipes or obituaries, show nothing at all.
Getting better matches
Use specific keywords
Use specific keywords
Names, places, tickers, teams and event names match market questions far better than section names.
federal reserve, fomc beats economy, news.Keep keywords to two to four
Keep keywords to two to four
Only the title and the first four keywords become searches (five queries in total). Put the most specific keyword first.
Write headlines that name the subject
Write headlines that name the subject
“Fed holds rates steady as inflation cools” matches more reliably than “A pause, for now”. If your headlines are deliberately oblique, rely more on keywords.
Preview before you publish
Preview before you publish
Use Headline preview on your widget page to see the match for any headline. See Test your embed.
What readers see
For the matched market, the widget shows the question, its image, Yes and No prices, and a link to the market on Polymarket. Where trading is available, it also shows trade controls. See Trading in the widget.Matching is fully automatic and the same for every publisher. PolyEmbed doesn’t sell placements or let anyone pin a market to your articles.
